1 Year & a 4th of July Ago

1 year ago we were on the road headed to Georgia. Unsure of what life would be like there, but trusting God fully with the details. If He opens the door, you walk. Well, actually I drag my feet a little so that I can figure out the details. Phil on the other hand, walks. (Dragging me behind…)

I drove Phil’s truck and he drove the Penske towing my car.

My co-pilot.

We arrived in Georgia on the evening of the 4th of July!
So it’s been a year already. Where does the time go? We faced many trials this last year, but through those storms we’ve learned so much and our faith has grown tremendously! Our God is so good and faithful to us. My verse of the year has been James 1:2-4  2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
I call it my verse of the year because it has literally followed me throughout the year. Last Sunday at church we began a series called ‘James’ and sure enough the entire message was on this verse. Our pastor made a great point when he said that we need to look ahead past the trial we face at all that God is going to do through it. Then in faith, take those feelings/emotions and apply them to your present situation. JOY! Easier said than done, yes.
I can’t tell you how many times in this last year alone that I have tried to take situations into my own hands. Looking back I realize it caused me a lot more stress and time wasted than if I had just surrendered it completely to God trusting His plan for our life. His plan is a lot simpler than ours. Why do I have to learn this lesson over and over?
So one year and many memories and lessons later, we have been blessed with a HOME. Not an apartment, a real HOME without anyone living below or next to us! (1st time for me since the 6th grade-I’m excited!)
Welcome to 111 Wiley Bridge Court!

Here’s the story:

Our lease was up in July. They were raising our rent quite a bit as we had rented at market low. Not cool. Then we started looking online at different places available and we realized we could rent a house for a little more than what we were paying for an apartment. So I posted a little blurb of what we were looking for on our church Facebookish site called The City. I figured we had a lot to offer an owner who was looking to renovate their home as Phil could do all the work. Plus, we’re rockin’ tenants! Literally within 15 minutes I received from someone who thought that God may be up to something…She explained that they were being relocated for her husbands job and they needed to rent their home. Long story short-which I’m not very good at-everything fit perfectly and we now call Wiley Bridge our home.

Okay God, I know, your plans are WAY better than ours! We LOVE this house! The owners hope to sell within a couple years and we are praying that we are the buyers! If you know us, then you know we like to do things backwards. So renting our first home before actually buying is right up our alley. It’s how we roll, as my good buddy Christy would say.

One of my fav things, the front porch swings. (one at either end!)

It’s a whole new world living in a house. Our neighbor welcomed us with fresh blueberry muffins! Phil has bought many toys to care for the lawn. Our friend let us borrow his riding lawn mower as it’s about an acre of land and would take forever to mow. The backyard has an area for a sand volleyball court so he’s been working at trimming back the trees so we can get the net up and add sand. I’ve been pulling weeds and thinking about what kinds of flowers to plant! Fun stuff!!

Wanna come over?  You are welcome any time!

So happy for you! We're on our way over!!!!

That's an awesome house! LOVE the porch swings… Doesn't get more southern than sipping iced tea on a front porch swing on a hot summer day. And nice shade with all those trees!

Wish we lived down the block…
